How to heat-press your DTF transfer

Four simple steps for a crisp, durable application. Follow the exact temperature, time, and pressure below and your Raccoon Print transfer will bond cleanly to cotton, blends, and most fabrics — any color.

The recipe

Press it in four steps

A heat press gives the most consistent result. Use these settings exactly — they are dialed in for our full-color DTF transfers with a white underbase.

1

Pre-press the garment

Pre-press the garment for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. A flat, dry surface helps the transfer bond evenly.

2

Press the transfer

Press the transfer at 300°F (150°C) for 10–15 seconds with medium-firm pressure. Position the design first, then close the press.

3

Cold peel the carrier film

Cold peel the carrier film — let it fully cool before peeling. Peeling while warm can lift the print, so be patient and wait.

4

Re-press for durability

Re-press with parchment paper for 5 seconds for the best, most durable result. This locks the ink and gives a clean finish.

Garments & care

Fabrics, washing & long-term wear

Our transfers are flexible across materials. A little care after application keeps them looking sharp wash after wash.

Garment & fabric notes

  • Works on cotton, blends, and most fabrics, in any color.
  • A white underbase is auto-applied, so colors stay vivid on dark garments.
  • A heat press gives the most consistent result versus a home iron.

Wash & care

  • Wait 24 hours before the first wash.
  • Turn the garment inside out before washing.
  • Wash cold or warm and tumble dry low.
  • Do not iron directly on the print.
Troubleshooting

Quick fixes

Two of the most common issues and how to solve them in seconds.

Edges lifting

Re-press with parchment paper over the design. A second 5-second press at the same heat re-bonds any edges that did not fully adhere.

Not adhering

Check temp, time, and pressure. Confirm the press reads 300°F (150°C), you held 10–15 seconds, and used medium-firm pressure — under-pressing is the usual cause.

Questions

Pressing FAQ

Answers to the things people ask most before they press.

01What temperature and time should I use?

Press the transfer at 300°F (150°C) for 10–15 seconds with medium-firm pressure. Pre-press the garment for 5 seconds first, cold peel the carrier film, then re-press with parchment paper for 5 seconds.

02Hot peel or cold peel?

Cold peel. Let the carrier film fully cool before peeling it away. Peeling while it is still warm can lift the print, so wait until it is cool to the touch.

03Can I use a home iron instead of a heat press?

A heat press gives the most consistent result because it applies even heat and pressure. A home iron can work in a pinch, but results are less reliable, so a press is strongly recommended.

04What fabrics do these transfers work on?

They work on cotton, blends, and most fabrics, in any color. A white underbase is auto-applied for dark garments, so colors stay vivid no matter the shirt color.

05How should I wash a pressed garment?

Wait 24 hours before the first wash. Turn the garment inside out, wash cold or warm, and tumble dry low. Do not iron directly on the print.

06The edges are lifting — what do I do?

Re-press with parchment paper over the design for another 5 seconds at the same heat. If the print is not adhering at all, check that your temperature, time, and pressure match the recipe above.
